Everyday care

How do you look after skin day to day in a hot climate?

·
Skin care in a hot climate is mostly a matter of daily routine: sun protection, fluids, sleep and a varied diet.

Thailand has strong sun for most of the year, which makes skin care more about what is done daily than about anything occasional.

How should sunscreen be used?

People generally apply less than intended, and reapplication is the step most often skipped, particularly when sweating or swimming.

Read the directions on the particular product and follow them.

How much do clothing and an umbrella help?

They are the most direct approach. A wide-brimmed hat, long sleeves and an umbrella reduce exposure without relying on reapplication.

The sun is strongest in the middle of the day, so shifting outdoor activity away from that window helps where it is possible.

How do fluids and humidity come in?

Heat increases fluid loss through sweat, while air-conditioned rooms are low in humidity. Drinking enough across the day is an easy baseline.

Does sleep matter?

The body repairs tissue during rest, so regular sleep is part of the routine rather than a separate topic.

What does food contribute?

Under the annex to Thai Ministry of Public Health Notification No. 447 (B.E. 2566), vitamin A, riboflavin, zinc and biotin contribute to the maintenance of normal skin, and vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin.

In practice that points to eating a varied diet across the food groups rather than targeting any single substance.

In what order?

Start with what can be done daily and shows up in how you feel — sun protection, fluids and sleep — and treat diet and supplements as the next layer.

Dietary supplements are not intended to prevent, treat or cure any disease.
